Figureitout formed in London around singer-songwriter Lewis Watson, who worked with musicians Sam Hemmingway and Josh Waters. Their 2014 debut EP 'Halo Hounds' included the track 'Want To Want Me,' which gained attention online. The band's sound mixed folk and indie elements with electronic textures, with Watson's vocals floating over atmospheric arrangements.
Their songs like 'Last Night' and 'Nothing To Lose' carried a reflective quality, often circling themes of relationships and personal searching. Watson's well-documented struggles with mental health and substance use coincided with lineup shifts within the group, though they continued making music through those changes.
Figureitout's recordings have a hushed, layered quality that doesn't fit neatly into one genre. The track 'P.R.P.' shows their tendency toward spare, mood-driven arrangements where Watson's voice sits close to the surface. They built a small catalog that feels more like a series of intimate sketches than a grand statement.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
