Figurótico formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2010s with Andrea Martins on vocals, Caio Prado on bass and vocals, Leonardo Reis on guitar, and Pedro Lobo on drums. Their debut album 'Desterro' came out in 2013, mixing post-punk and alternative rock with Brazilian tropicalia influences.
One track from that album, 'Faz Um Tempo Que Eu Não Como Nada,' connected with listeners dealing with economic uncertainty. The song's lyrics about not having eaten in a while sat over a steady rhythm section that gave it a hypnotic quality.
Their writing sometimes addressed social and political topics directly, which brought them attention beyond just their music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
