Archive material and source history
Final War formed in 1993 after Medieval Steel broke up. The original lineup included vocalist Chris Boltendahl, guitarists Stefan Schwarzmann and Uwe Lulis, bassist Andreas Gross, and drummer Stefan Seiler. They played heavy metal with epic and historical themes.
Their 1995 debut was 'Tales of Glory,' followed by albums like 'Triumph or Agony' in 1996 and 'The Power Within' in 1998. The single 'Tales of Honour' came out in 1996 and became a fan favorite. Other songs include 'The Nationalist' and 'War Machine.'
In 2004, the song '1648' drew criticism for how it handled the Thirty Years' War. The band said they meant to show war's horrors, not celebrate them. They kept recording and touring after that.
