Finch formed in 2001 as an American rock band. Their debut album 'What It Is to Burn' came out in 2002, featuring the title track that became one of their most recognizable songs. The lineup included Nate Barcalow on vocals, Alex Linares on rhythm guitar, Derek Doherty on bass, and Drew Marcovic on drums.
Ray Toro played lead guitar on that first album before leaving in 2003. Finch followed up with 'Say Hello to Sunshine' in 2005 and 'Aphelion' in 2008. Other songs like 'Letters to You' and 'Ender' also appeared in their catalog during those years.
After 2008, the band went on an extended hiatus. Their music from the early 2000s, particularly songs like 'What It Is to Burn' and 'Post Script,' still gets mentioned when people talk about that period in rock.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
