Fiordaliso formed in 1978 in Sanremo with Anna Oxa on vocals, Marinella Bargilli also singing, Alberto Contini playing guitar, and Claudio Pascoli on drums. Their early material mixed folk, pop, and rock, and they put out a self-titled debut album in 1982.
That first record included "Non Voglio Mica La Luna," a ballad written by Oxa that became their best-known song. It's a straightforward piece about longing and resignation that connected with listeners in Italy. They also had tracks like "Estate 83" and "Accidenti A Te" in their catalog.
Oxa left the group in 1986, which changed their sound. They kept making albums into the 1990s, including "Il Cielo d'Irlanda" and "Naturale." Their music sometimes drew criticism for being too direct, but they had a run of work that stayed in rotation on Italian radio.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
