Editor's note

FireHouse, the Charlotte rock band with melodic staples

A late-80s hard rock group known for songs like 'Love Of a Lifetime' and 'Don't Treat Me Bad'.

For the full FireHouse sound, start with 'Love Of a Lifetime' and 'Don't Treat Me Bad.' That's the melodic rock core they've carried from the start.

FireHouse's debut album in 1990 gave rock radio a pair of enduring melodic anthems, 'Love Of a Lifetime' and 'I Live My Life For You.' Those songs, along with the harder-edged 'Don't Treat Me Bad,' defined a specific, accessible corner of early-90s rock. They've kept those tracks in their setlists for decades, even through lineup changes and label disputes.

The band formed in Charlotte in 1989 and released their self-titled debut the next year. After drummer Michael Foster left in 1999, they faced a legal fight with Epic Records that paused recording until they returned on their own label in 2003. They reunited for shows in 2010 and have put out albums like 'Full Circle' and 'FireHouse Reborn' since.

FireHouse formed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1989 with C.J. Snare on vocals, Bill Leverty on guitar, Perry Richardson on bass, and Michael Foster on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out the next year and included songs like 'Love Of a Lifetime' and 'I Live My Life For You,' which became staples of their melodic rock sound. They followed it with albums like 'Hold Your Fire' in 1992 and '3' in 1995.

Drummer Michael Foster left in 1999, replaced by Danny Biederman. The band released 'Category 5' that same year but faced a legal dispute with Epic Records in 2001 that led to a contract release and a pause in recording. They returned with 'Prime Time' on their own label in 2003, then went on hiatus in 2004.

FireHouse reunited for a performance at Rocklahoma in 2010 and have since released albums like 'Full Circle' in 2013 and 'FireHouse Reborn' in 2017 while continuing to tour. Songs such as 'Don't Treat Me Bad' and 'When I Look Into Your Eyes' remain part of their setlists.
