Firenze

Firenze was an Italian band that formed in the late 1990s, led by vocalist and songwriter Marco Masini. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1999 and included the track 'Al Cambio,' a melancholic ballad that found an audience. The record established them nationally, drawing on Italian melodic traditions with rock elements.

They followed with albums like 'Controluce' in 2001 and 'Uscita' in 2005, which showed some artistic development though they didn't match the commercial reach of the first one. Masini's lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being confrontational, and his personal struggles with addiction and mental health added to the band's complicated public image.

Firenze's lineup shifted over time, with Masini as the consistent presence. Other members included guitarist Alessandro Benvenuti, bassist Luca Cioni, drummer Fulvio Marrucci, and keyboardist Michele Tassini. They released a fourth studio album, 'Il sogno di un altro mondo,' in 2010.

Songs like 'Apuntar Más Alto,' 'Aturdido,' 'De Cristal,' and 'Diciembre' round out their catalog. The band remained largely an Italian phenomenon, with limited recognition beyond that scene.
