First Signal formed in 2014 with vocalist Johnny Tookes, guitarists Joe Prince and George Perry, bassist Jamie Richards, and drummer Ryan Scott. Their debut EP came out in 2016 and included the song "Still Pretending," which got some attention for its confessional tone and raw energy.
In 2018 they released a second album called "Unveiled" that dealt with heavier themes like mental health and addiction. The record got mixed reviews, with some listeners finding it less immediate than their earlier work. Behind the scenes, Tookes and Prince were dealing with depression and addiction, which shaped the writing.
Other songs from their catalog include "A Million Miles," "Angel With a Rose," "Born To Be A Rebel," and "Closer To The Edge."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
