Five Foot Thick

Five Foot Thick came out of Brooklyn in the late 2000s with a raw, emotionally direct indie rock sound. Their 2009 debut album was called 'Betrayal,' and the song 'betrayed' from it seemed to catch on with listeners who recognized its particular kind of anguish.

Anya Krov sang and played guitar for the band, with Ethan James on drums and Liam Carter on bass. Their music often dealt with heavy feelings, songs like 'Blood Puddle' and 'Self Evident' suggest they weren't interested in light material. The performances had an intensity that could feel vulnerable or confrontational.

There were stories about personal conflicts and other troubles within the group over time. They kept making music through it, putting out records with titles like 'Painful Bliss' and 'Whispers in the Dark' that continued in a similar vein.
