Five In 4 formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1993 with Evandro Mesquita on vocals, Cássio Sela and Bruno Gouveia on guitars, Fábio Fonseca on bass, and Ivo Mozart on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year, and its track "Além Dos Sonhos" became a Brazilian pop staple that still gets played today.
They put out a few more records through the late 1990s, including Entre a Ternura e a Paixão and Pra Não Dizer Que Eu Não Falei de Flores. The band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2000, then reunited for an anniversary show in 2017. Evandro Mesquita died in 2020.
Songs like "Diferente Está" and "Esse É Meu Lugar" show the kind of melodic, straightforward pop they were known for. They weren't a flashy act, just a solid Brazilian pop group that wrote some songs people still remember.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
