Five Up formed in Manila in the early 1990s with Clarence Jervoso on vocals, Jay Durias on keyboards, Myke Salomon on guitar, Manny Tanglao on bass, and Arnold Garcia on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1995 and included the song "Armanda," which became a hit in the Philippines.
They released several albums through the late 1990s and early 2000s, including Beyond Limits in 1996 and Power of Five in 1997. Jay Durias left the band in 2001 to work on solo projects. Other songs from their catalog include "Ilusão de Julho" and "Poucas Palavras."
Five Up put out The Reunion in 2012 and a best-of collection in 2015. Their music stayed popular in the Philippines, particularly the song "Armanda."
