Archive material and source history
Fixed Til Tuesday came together in Boston during the 1980s with Aimee Mann on vocals and keyboards, Kurt Neumann on guitar, Will Shatter on bass, and Scott Sanders on drums. Their 1985 debut album included the song 'And Souls Sing,' which became their breakout track. They put out four more records through the 80s and 90s, like 'You Walk Up to the Room' and 'Greetings from Hollywood.'
Neumann left the band in 1989, and Sanders followed soon after. They had some trouble with their label, Elektra Records, around that time. Mann later built a solo career, and Shatter died in 1998. The group's sound, built around Mann's voice and some thoughtful writing, held onto a following even after they stopped making records together.
