The Fixx formed in London in 1980 with Cy Curnin on vocals, Jamie West-Oram on guitar, Rupert Greenall on keyboards, Billy Currington on bass, and Adam Woods on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1982, and the track 'Deeper And Deeper' became a standout with its hypnotic bassline and Curnin's vocal delivery.
After Currington left in 1983, Dan K. Brown joined on bass. The band kept releasing albums through the '80s and '90s, including 'Reach the Beach' in 1983 and 'Phantoms' in 1984. Songs like 'Are We Ourselves?' and 'Built For The Future' showed their knack for pairing thoughtful lyrics with accessible new wave arrangements.
They've put out records intermittently since then, with 'Want That Life' arriving in 2012 and 'Every Five Seconds' in 2016. The lineup has stayed mostly steady with Curnin, West-Oram, Greenall, Brown, and Woods.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
