Archive material and source history
Fiz formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1984 with Ivan Santos on vocals and guitar, Marquinhos Rocha on bass, André Macedo on guitar, and Charles Gavin on drums. They released their self-titled debut album in 1985, followed by "O Mundo Estar Prestes a Acabar" in 1987.
That second album's title track became their most recognizable song. Its lyrics about the world ending connected with listeners in Brazil during that period, though some critics found the tone overly pessimistic.
André Macedo left the band in 1989, and guitarist Clemente Nascimento joined around that time. They released two more albums, "A Verdadeira História" in 1989 and "Infinito" in 1992, before their recorded output slowed.
