Flaap

Flaap came together in Seville in the early 2000s. Their sound mixed alternative rock with flamenco and electronic touches, which didn't immediately fit with what was popular in Spain at the time. They built an audience by playing small venues, led by frontman Manuel Martínez.

Their song "Desacordado" became something of an anthem for them. It's built around a discordant melody and lyrics that feel introspective, which gives a good sense of their approach. Other tracks like "Isto Não Pode Ser Um Sonho" and "Momentos" show a similar focus on mood and texture over conventional polish.

They released their first album, "Incontinencia," in 2004. A few years later, in 2007, they put out "Desacordados," which featured the title track and helped them reach listeners outside of Spain. Their music often dealt with personal themes, which sometimes sparked discussion, but it was the directness of the songs themselves that connected with people.
