Flack formed as a quartet in Brazil in the late 1990s, with Karl Ulrich on vocals and guitar, Samuel Lemes on bass, Ricardo Silveira on drums, and Paulo Júnior on keyboards. Their debut album 'Quando as Estrelas Brilham' came out in 2000, mixing pop and rock with Brazilian rhythms.

Their second album 'A Minha Cura' arrived in 2002, and its title track became a major hit. That song, along with others like 'Desculpa' and 'Palavras,' helped build their audience. The band faced some lineup changes over time, with Paulo Júnior leaving in 2008 and Samuel Lemes departing a few years later.
