Flash Cadillac & the Continental Kids formed in Pittsburgh in the early 1960s. The group included George "Flash" Cadogan on lead vocals and guitar, Bobby "Cadillac" Cadogan on drums, William "Continental" Curtis on bass, and Earl "Kid" Jackson on tenor saxophone.
They signed with Chancellor Records in 1963 and released "At the Hop" that same year. The song became their biggest hit, reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Another track, "She's So Fine," also appeared among their popular recordings.
Their name led to legal issues with General Motors over the use of "Cadillac." The band released several albums through the mid-1960s, including their self-titled debut in 1963 and "The Sound of Flash Cadillac & the Continental Kids" in 1964.
