Flavio e Pizada Quente came out of Rio de Janeiro with a sound that mixed Brazilian rhythms with soul and funk. Their 1995 song "Esse Pretinho" became something of an anthem, and they followed it with tracks like "Boquinha de Açúcar" and "Cerveja Não Fala."
Their lyrics often dealt with race, poverty, and social issues, which brought them both attention and criticism.
They released albums through the 1990s and 2000s, including "Favela da Criação" in 2000 and "Resistência" in 2003. The group consisted of Flavio Renosto on vocals and Pizada Quente on guitar.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
