Fleur East grew up in Walthamstow, London, and first appeared on television during the 2012 season of The X Factor UK. She released her first album, Love, Sax and Flashbacks, in 2015. That same year, her single Sax became a hit in the UK and Ireland, built around a catchy saxophone riff.

Her second album, Fearless, came out in 2020. Other songs include Favourite Thing, Figured Out, and Never Say When.

In 2016, there were some questions about whether Sax borrowed too much from another song, but those claims didn't stick. She's talked about dealing with online bullying and the particular pressures on young women in pop music.
