Flying Saucers formed in Wigan, England in the early 1960s with Johnny Banks on vocals, Mick Bolton on lead guitar, Dave Wilkinson on rhythm guitar, Bob Mager on bass, and Bill Wilson on drums. They signed with Decca Records in 1963 and released their debut single "The Darts of Cupid" in 1965, which reached the UK top 20.
Their biggest hit came with "A Little Bit of Lovin'" in 1966, which reached number one in the UK and made the US top ten. The song remains their most recognizable track, though they also recorded other material like "Baby Come Back" and "Let's Rock The Town."
Mick Bolton left the band in 1967, and Flying Saucers eventually disbanded after several lineup changes and internal conflicts. Their recordings from the mid-1960s capture that particular British beat sound of the era.
