FMC

FMC, short for Filhos da Mãe Cão, formed in Portugal's underground scene in the late 1980s. The band was fronted by vocalist António Zambujo, with Fernando Carballo on guitar, Mário Santos on bass, and Paulo Silva on drums. They became known for raw lyrics and live shows that felt incendiary at the time.

Their music often reflected Portugal's social climate after the revolution, touching on subjects like corruption and hypocrisy. This directness sometimes led to censorship or legal trouble from conservative critics. Their 1989 album Pais de Porcos, which shares its name with their most recognized song, is often cited as a key early work in Portuguese rock.

Later albums like Só Chão (1991) and Aurora Negra (1995) showed some shifts in sound, with the latter including the track O Homem do Trapézio. They released a concept album called 2001 in 2001 before disbanding in 2009. The song Pais de Porcos remains a reference point for its blunt social critique.
