A Lisbon band whose 1978 debut 'Contra a Ciência' became an underground anthem.
Start with 'Contra a Ciência' to hear what caused the stir. 'Viver Em Paz' shows another side of their catalog.
F.M.I. arrived in 1977 when punk was far from mainstream in Portugal. Their song 'Contra a Ciência' drew criticism for its message but became an anthem anyway. You can still hear that confrontational energy in tracks like 'Vá à Luta' and 'Porcos Cegos' today.
They formed in 1977 with Jorge Cruz on vocals and put out 'Contra a Ciência' the next year. A live album followed in 1980, and a compilation called '10 Anos Depois' came in 1988. Their music stuck around as part of that specific moment in Portuguese punk.
