Fobia formed in Mexico City in the late 1980s with Leonardo de Lozanne on vocals, Francisco Huidobro on guitar, Jay de la Cueva on drums, and Iñaki Vazquez on bass. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1990. The band's 1992 album 'Mundo Feliz' included the single 'Hipnotizame,' which became a radio staple in Mexico.
Their sound shifted over the 1990s, with albums like 1995's 'Delirio' incorporating more electronic elements and 1998's 'Destruyeme' returning to a rawer rock approach. The lineup changed during this period, with de la Cueva and Vazquez eventually leaving the group. They released 'Rosa Venus' in 2005, which took a more experimental direction.
Songs like 'Me Siento Vivo' and 'Dios Bendiga a Los Gusanos' show the band's range from straightforward rock to more lyrically complex material. They've reunited occasionally for shows since the 2000s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
