Fon was a German rock band that came out of Berlin's post-punk scene in the early 1980s. Their sound was raw and intense, and they developed a cult following during that period. The band's lineup included Markus Gabler on vocals, Stefan "Leif" Lässig on guitar, Dirk "Micki" Michael on bass, and Gerd "Fifo" Fiand on drums.
Their debut single "Gnadenlos" came out in 1983 and became something of an anthem for disaffected youth at the time. The song's dark themes and Gabler's distinctive vocal delivery helped establish Fon as part of the Neue Deutsche Welle movement. They followed it with albums like Traumland in 1984 and Es ist Zeit in 1985.
Fon's lyrics often dealt with difficult subjects like violence and despair, which drew criticism from some conservative circles. They released several more albums through the late 1980s, including Die Story in 1986 and Das Herz will was du willst in 1987, before putting out a live album in 1988.
