Fonetics formed in Barcelona in 2004 with Alba Martín on vocals, Marc Fernández on guitar, Àlex Sánchez on bass, and Albert Casas on drums. They spent their early years playing small venues around the city. In 2006, music executive Javier Limón helped them release their debut album, which shared its name with the song 'Detrás de Ti.' That track became a hit in Spain.
Their discography includes six studio albums. After 'Detrás de Ti,' they put out 'Sonámbulos' in 2009 and 'El Costo de la Verdad' in 2012. Their 2020 album 'Volver a Mí' shifted toward a more electronic sound. Other songs like 'Mil Hormigas' and 'Sin Retornos' appear in their catalog.
In 2015, their song 'La Bala' drew criticism from some conservative groups for its political content. The band continued writing music that addressed social themes.
