Forró Arco e Flecha formed in Fortaleza, Ceará in 2002 with vocalists Afonso Lima and Ana Paula, accordionist Renato Andrade, and percussionists Chicão and Jota. They played a version of forró that mixed traditional rhythms with pop and rock elements.
Their 2003 single "Adriana à Beira Mar" became a national hit in Brazil, heard regularly on dance floors. The song's suggestive lyrics also drew criticism from conservative groups. Ana Paula left the band in 2005 and was replaced by vocalist Dayane Camargo.
Later albums like 2008's "Forró de Primeira" showed them incorporating samba, pop, and electronic touches into their sound. Other songs in their catalog include "Arco e Flecha," "Baião do Pecado," "Canção de Adeus," and "Musa Primeira."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
