Forró Balança Nenem formed in Fortaleza, Ceará in the early 2000s, led by vocalist Joãozinho Batista. Their song 'Não é Brinquedo Não' became a hit in the region, appearing on their debut live album 'Ao Vivo em Fortaleza.'

Their music drew some criticism from traditionalists who felt it strayed from forró's roots, but the band kept playing their version of the style. They recorded other albums like 'De Volta ao Forró' and 'Só Sucessos,' and worked with artists including Elba Ramalho and Wesley Safadão.

Other songs like 'Telefone Ocupado' and 'Cai Fora' show their straightforward approach to forró. The lineup changed at times, though Joãozinho Batista stayed with the group.
