They played forró, a traditional dance music from the region, drawing on sounds like baião and xaxado.
Their song 'Alaíde' came out in 1992 with lyrics by José Miguel Wisnik. It became a hit about rural life and longing, joining other tracks like 'Amarelinho com Gelo' and 'Bebo Bebo Sim' in their catalog. In 2007, there were accusations that the melody for 'Alaíde' was taken from a folk song, though these were later dismissed.
The band kept recording after that, working in the forró style they'd established. Their music stayed grounded in the rhythms and themes of northeastern Brazil without much fuss.
