Forró Di Taipa

Forró Di Taipa formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1998, led by vocalist and accordionist Jairo Pereira. Their early sound mixed traditional forró rhythms with modern pop and rock elements, which initially met with some skepticism from traditionalists. The band's debut album in 2003 helped establish their presence, and tracks like 'Você Vacilou' and 'Bacana' became staples in their repertoire.

Jairo Pereira's accordion playing and vocals remained central to the group's identity through various lineup changes. Other members at different times included bassist Gilvan Monteiro, guitarist Eduardo Diniz, and percussionist Anderson Ribeiro. Their music incorporated influences from samba and MPB alongside the foundational forró sound.

Their recordings like 'Canibal' and 'Fazer Coisinha' maintained an energetic, danceable quality that connected with audiences. The band collaborated with artists including Ivete Sangalo and Daniela Mercury at points in their career. Their approach brought forró to new listeners while keeping its rhythmic core intact.
