Forró Dikasa formed in Fortaleza, Brazil in the early 2000s around vocalist Silvanno Salles and accordion player Eliézio dos Santos. They worked from traditional forró, a dance style from northeastern Brazil, and released their debut album 'Amor, Meu Amor' in 2004. That title track and songs like 'Beijar Você' and 'Coração Bobo' became staples at parties and weddings.
In 2010, the band got tangled in a legal dispute with their former manager over song ownership. The core of Salles and Santos stayed through various lineup shifts that included percussionist Toinho do Cajón, bassist Fábio Faria, and vocalist Sheila Mello. They put out albums like 'Tudo de Bom' in 2006 and 'O Melhor do Forró' in 2008.
Their music traveled beyond Brazil to audiences in Europe and Latin America. Tracks such as 'Lua' and 'Pra Sempre Aqui (Pirei)' kept the dance floors moving with that straightforward romantic forró sound.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
