Forró do Don Ruann formed in 2019 in Queimadas, a small town in Paraíba, Brazil. The band is led by vocalist Ruann Oliveira and includes Romário de Farias on accordion, Mário Neto on triangle, and Edson Bezerra on zabumba. They released their debut album 'Ao Vivo em Queimadas' in 2021.
That album featured 'Na Pegada do Papai,' a song that became their breakout hit. Its lyrics about a young man seeking his father's approval connected with listeners, though the semi-autobiographical portrayal also drew some criticism. The track topped charts and gathered millions of streams.
Other songs like 'Pode Voltar Pra Ele,' 'Estilo Animal,' and 'O Mestre Do Prazer' followed. The band put out more albums including 'No Balanço do Swing' in 2022 and 'Meu Pedaço de Chão' in 2023.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
