Forró do Fiu formed in São Paulo in 2013 when three friends, Bruno Ribeiro, Victor Campos, and Renato Queiroz, started playing together. They took their name from the playful, mischievous spirit they wanted in their music, which drew from the traditional forró rhythms of northeastern Brazil.
Their song "Fazendo Amor Na Esteira" became their most recognizable track. The band released it on their 2016 album of the same name, following their debut "Quatro Rodas" from 2014. They also put out a live recording in 2018 called "Forró do Fiu Ao Vivo."
Their lyrics sometimes touched on sexuality and relationships in ways that drew criticism from some listeners, while others appreciated their direct approach. The lineup stayed consistent with Ribeiro on vocals and guitar, Campos on bass and backing vocals, and Queiroz on drums.
