Forró do Maioral

Forró do Maioral formed in 1992 around accordionist and vocalist Nilson dos Anjos in Fortaleza, Ceará. The group included founding members like Edilson Nascimento on triangle and Ivanildo Lima on zabumba, playing traditional forró with a straightforward, energetic approach.

Their song 'Beber e Farrear' became a party anthem in the mid-90s, though its lyrics about drinking and revelry drew some criticism. Another track, 'Dança da Cadeira,' also gained popularity during this period. The band released several albums through the decade, including 'Desce a Lenha' in 1993 and 'Só Pra Beber' the following year.

While lineup changes occurred over time, with vocalists like Marcelo dos Anjos and Simone Guedes joining at points, Nilson dos Anjos remained the consistent presence. Their music maintained a loyal following in Brazil's forró scene through the late 1990s.
