Forró do Thop

Forró do Thop is a Brazilian forró band that started in Salvador, Bahia, in 2002. The group includes vocalist and songwriter Bruno Magnata, guitarist and co-producer Thalles Kástil, accordionist and arranger Jorge Filho, and percussionist and backing vocalist Marcelinho Oliveira. They put out their first album, 'Baião, Xote e Forró,' in 2005, and followed it with 'Além Dos Seus Olhos' in 2008.

That second album's title track, 'Além Dos Seus Olhos,' became their most recognizable song. Other tracks like 'Amanhã Será Melhor' and 'Pense Em Mim' also helped define their sound, which mixes traditional forró rhythms with a more modern pop feel.

In 2009, the band faced some legal trouble over accusations of plagiarism involving a song called 'Meu Vaqueiro Bom,' but they were eventually cleared. They've played shows in Brazil, Europe, and the United States, building a following that goes beyond their home region.
