Forró Mega Choque formed in 1995 in Pernambuco, with Raimundo 'Mega' Silva on vocals, Josenildo 'Choque' da Silva on accordion, Cícero Santos on bass, and Josinaldo 'Naldo' dos Santos on triangle. They started playing local festivals and smaller venues, working through the usual early struggles of a new band trying to find its footing.
Their 2006 single 'O Mundo Eu Vou Te Dar' became a national hit, which changed things for them. That song, along with tracks like 'Falando de Amor' and 'Você Não Foi Uma Ilusão,' helped define their sound and reach a wider audience. They followed it with albums like 'O Amor da Minha Vida' in 2007 and 'Deixa Rolar' in 2009.
The group has faced some criticism over lyrics and a copyright issue around 2010, but they kept playing. Their lineup has stayed mostly the same, with Eliton Santos joining on drums at some point. They still perform regularly, with a live album recorded in São Paulo in 2012.
