Forró Mexe Mais formed in 1999 in Maceió, led by vocalist and accordionist Romim Mata. Their 2003 track 'Dá Um Play' became a breakthrough hit, bringing them wider attention in Brazil's forró scene.
They kept releasing albums like 'Na Batida do Forró' in 2004 and 'Só Pra Sambar' in 2007, working with a steady lineup that included Rogério Santos on triangle and Nino Moura on drums. Songs like 'Espetinho da Vizinha' and 'Mexe Mais' became part of their set.
Their career wasn't without friction. At their peak, they faced accusations of plagiarism and some behavioral complaints about members, though the group kept performing through it. They continued putting out records into the 2010s, including 'Pra Curtir e Dançar' in 2010.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
