Their sound was energetic and straightforward, built on those traditional instruments.
In 1999, they released "Dormir no Cabaré," a song that became a massive hit in Brazil. That track, along with others like "Fazer Amor" and "Levando Gaíta," helped push their music beyond regional scenes. They put out albums like "Petrolina..." in 1997 and "Sem Limites" in 2000.
Their lyrics were often playful and direct, which sometimes drew criticism from more conservative listeners. A legal dispute over the rights to "Dormir no Cabaré" in 2003 created some turbulence, but the band kept playing. Their music stayed popular for its uncomplicated, danceable feel.
