Archive material and source history
Forró Mugango formed in 1997 in Fortaleza, Brazil, with Neto Siqueira on vocals and guitar, Lucinha Menezes on percussion, and Silvio Ribeiro on bass. They started as a street band playing local bars and festivals, later adding keyboardist Betto Correia and drummer Diego Santos. Their sound mixed forró with samba and rock elements.
Their 2004 album "Coração" included the title track that became widely popular in Brazil. They had released their self-titled debut album in 2001, followed by "Poesia Urbana" in 2007 and "A Vida que a Gente Quer" in 2010. In 2003, the band faced legal trouble after an incident at a São Paulo show, though they eventually resolved it.
