Forró Topadão

Forró Topadão came together in 1998 in Ceará, with Adeilson Alves on vocals, Guto Vidigal on guitar, Neto Bacana on bass, and Valdemir on drums. They started playing local bars and festivals, and their self-titled debut album came out the next year. That record included 'Esfrega Em Mim Que Eu Gosto,' which became a huge hit and defined their sound, a straightforward forró rhythm paired with lyrics that leaned into humor and innuendo.

Their songs like 'Chama o Bombeiro' and 'Penso, Logo Enlouqueço (Me Mata)' kept that same direct, catchy style. The band's lyrics often touched on drinking and sex, which drew criticism from some conservative corners. They also faced accusations of plagiarism and a legal dispute with the Brazilian music rights association ABRAMUS in 2001, though that case was resolved in their favor.

Forró Topadão kept putting out albums after that, with tracks like 'Taxista' and 'A Outra Parte' staying popular with their fans, who called themselves topadócios. They were one of those acts that people either loved or found too brash, but they had a clear, unpolished appeal in the late '90s and early 2000s forró scene.
