Forró Tóys came out of Ceará in the late 1990s. The band had four members: Joãozinho do Exu on vocals, Davi do Acordeon on accordion, Edinho do Pife on flute, and Roque do Piauí on percussion. Their sound was built around that lineup, with the accordion and flute giving their forró a particular texture.
Their 2000 album 'Tuntum' included the song 'Ela Faz Tuntum,' which became a major hit. The band faced some performance bans as a result, but they kept playing.
Other songs like 'Buteco' and 'Tá Melhor Sem Você' also became popular. They released a live compilation called 'Paredões Parte II' in 2003 and a greatest hits collection in 2006. The debate around 'Ela Faz Tuntum' was a persistent part of their story.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
