Forró Viremexe formed in 2002 in Fortaleza, Ceará, with five original members: Thiago Carvalho on vocals and guitar, Henrique Almeida on accordion, Jonas Rocha on bass, Rodrigo Sakamoto on drums, and Cristiano Sena on triangle. They built their sound around traditional forró rhythms with some modern pop touches.
Their 2005 album 'Hoje É Sexta-Feira e Segunda É Feriado' gave them their biggest hit with the title track, a song that became widely popular across Brazil. They also had another track called 'Hoje Só' that found an audience.
In 2009, lead vocalist Thiago Carvalho faced plagiarism accusations from musician Chico César over similarities between Carvalho's song 'Foi Deus' and César's 'Deus Me Proteja.' The allegations were eventually dismissed, but they created some public discussion at the time.
