FP Mac formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s with Fernanda Porto on vocals, Marcelo Martins on guitar, Pedro Baby on bass, and Ricardo Costa on drums. Their first album came out in 2004, simply titled "FP Mac."
Their 2008 album "Ponto de Paz" gave them their most recognizable song. In 2010, there were some accusations of plagiarism around that track, but a legal review found no wrongdoing. They kept recording, putting out "Um Olhar" in 2012 and "Viver Agora" in 2016.
Their music pulls from pop, rock, and samba. The song "Ponto de Paz" has been covered by other artists and is often mentioned in connection with themes of peace and unity in Brazil.
