Frank Reyes

Frank Reyes grew up in Samaná, Dominican Republic, born in 1969. He started singing and playing guitar early, influenced by bachata singers like Luis Vargas and Anthony Santos. In 1991, he put out his first album, Bachata Rosa, which included the song Princesa. That track helped him find an audience.

His music tends to work with straightforward romantic themes, delivered over the steady rhythms of bachata. Songs like Fui Tu Primer Amor and Tú Eres Ajena are typical of his approach, direct, melodic, and built for dancing. He has recorded steadily since the early '90s, releasing more than twenty albums.

In 2005, Reyes was arrested on drug charges that were later dismissed. He kept recording after that, with tracks such as Cómo Sanar and Quien Eres Tu appearing among his later work. He still performs, drawing on the catalog he built in the '90s and 2000s.
