Francesco Xavier was a band from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, formed by brothers Gustavo and Giuliano Xavier. Gustavo handled guitar and vocals while Giuliano played percussion and bass. Their music pulled from ambient folk and psychedelic rock, with some Brazilian tradition mixed in.
They released their debut album in 2011, titled "É Como Se Ele Pensasse Assim" after the song of the same name. That track had a haunting quality that became something of a calling card for them. They followed it with "Claridão" in 2014 and "Canções para Ninar e Embalar" in 2017.
The band's sound didn't fit neatly into existing categories, which meant they never reached a broad commercial audience. They kept working on their own terms, though, making music that felt personal and exploratory rather than designed for radio play.
