Francisco Bezerra was a Brazilian gospel singer from Caicó who started singing in his local church choir as a teenager. In 1973, he released his debut album 'O Inimigo Pelejou,' and the title track became his most recognizable song. He also recorded other gospel standards like 'Foi Jesus de Nazaré' and 'Quando o crente ora.'
In 1979, he was in a car accident that left him with a permanent disability, which affected his touring and performing for a time.
Bezerra kept recording and performing through the 1980s and 1990s, mostly within Pentecostal and Charismatic church circles in Brazil. He died in 2010.
