Archive material and source history
Francisco Céspedes was born in Santa Clara, Cuba in 1957. He started singing and writing songs early, and in 1984 he joined the Cuban band Los Van Van as a vocalist and songwriter.
He went solo in 1993 with his debut album 'Hasta Que Se Rompa el Tiempo.' The album did well, and he followed it with records like 'Vida Loca' in 1998. That title track became one of his most recognizable songs, along with 'Que Hago Contigo' and 'Tú Me Has de Querer.'
In 2002 he was arrested on drug possession charges and served a short jail sentence. He kept making music afterward, working with artists like Armando Manzanero and Luis Miguel.
