They changed their name in 1960 and had their first hit with "Sherry." The group's sound mixed doo-wop, pop, and soul, and they put out a string of singles in the 1960s like "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Walk Like a Man."

Valli's voice gave the group its recognizable high tenor, heard on songs like "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and "December 1963 (Oh, What A Night)." He also recorded solo material, including "My Eyes Adored You." The Four Seasons faced some internal conflicts and legal issues in the early 1970s, but kept performing and recording.

Later, Valli's voice was featured on the title track for the film Grease. The group's music has been reissued on compilations like The Very Best of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
