Freak Now formed in São Paulo in 2014, a punk band built around vocalist and guitarist Gui Ferreira, bassist Victor Pollak, and drummer Pedro Rosito. They played local clubs and put out their debut album 'Seu Herói' that same year, which included the title track and another song called 'Só Mais Uma Vez.'
Their lyrics often dealt with social issues and personal struggles, and they faced some pushback from conservative groups over their language and political content. This didn't stop them from releasing more albums like 'Alma de Rua' and 'Culto ao Caos' over the next few years.
They worked with other artists occasionally, including the Brazilian singer Cazuza and the Italian musician Franco Battiato. The band's sound mixed punk and hardcore with some melodic elements, driven by Ferreira's raw delivery, Pollak's bass lines, and Rosito's drumming.
