Fredriksson Marie

Marie Fredriksson was born in Össjö, Sweden in 1958. She started playing piano and writing songs early on, and in 1978 formed the duo Strul. After that project ended, she released her first solo album 'Het vind' in 1984. Her collaboration with Per Gessle would become the pop duo Roxette, whose 1989 single 'The Look' reached number one internationally.

While Roxette achieved global success, Fredriksson kept making her own music. Her 1992 solo album 'Den ständiga resan' received strong reviews. In 2002, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and took time away from performing. She returned to touring in 2004 and continued recording solo work in the years that followed.

Her solo songs like 'Tro På Mej' and 'Aldrig Som Främlingar' show a different side than the Roxette hits, with more personal Swedish-language writing. She worked in both pop and quieter, more reflective styles across her career.
