Frente' Verso

Frente! formed in Melbourne in 1991 with Angie Hart on vocals and guitar, Simon Austin on bass, Tim Curnick on drums, and Mark Picton on guitar. They released the Marquee Moon EP that same year, followed by A Girl and a Gun in 1992. Their sound settled into a kind of alternative pop with dreamy textures, anchored by Hart's distinctive voice.

In 1994 they put out Loose Screws, which included the song 'A Sua Canção.' That track found an audience well beyond Australia. The band released Shape in 1996, after which Picton departed and Hart took on more of a leadership role. They stopped performing together around 1999.

Hart has spoken publicly about dealing with drug addiction, and in 2004 she was arrested on a possession charge. The group got back together in 2011, playing shows and releasing Watch How the Fish Jump that year and Any Day Now in 2014. They've kept a lower profile since, but songs like 'Natália' and 'Sempre ao meu Lado' still turn up in film and television soundtracks from time to time.
